Raggy Gold

Biography

Raggy Gold is a singer-songwriter, raconteur and writer currently based in Sheffield, UK.

A passionate singer from a very early age, Raggy won multiple singing awards and sang with leading choirs whilst at school; which included performing alongside the BBC Philharmonic orchestra at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester.

During his teens, he began listening to 60s music; which included the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan and The Beatles.

He soon started to teach himself the guitar and write his own distinctive songs; which were inspired by an eclectic mix of 60s blues and Jazz, 80s Motown, 90s Britpop, his brother’s RnB/hip hop collection and a few Bollywood bangers.

Whilst at University studying to become a dentist, he would regularly gig, make songs for political campaigns and perform at Revues to raise money for charity, though studies limited his true musical output.

Now a professional smile maker, he has finally decided to create a few smiles with his music instead of his drill (actually Covid took care of that one) and the upcoming EP “Social Distance” hopes to achieve just this.

Aside from music, his other passions and interests include cooking, gardening, philosophy and current affairs. He hopes to blog about these all here.
